So with Albion done, I'm going over to the Norse. I had originally not planned on making this book, but seeing as I have found so much great source material on them from WFRP it seemed impossible not too Big Grin

While I like Grim Squeeker's list just fine, there are a few things I felt lacking in it (my opinion only ofc), which I am planning on changing/adding in my version.

Special Rules:
Counter-Charge
Berserkergang

Special Characters:
Erik Redaxe, High King of the Norse
Sturmjarl, Shaman Lord of Ejsgard
The Ravenswyrd
Keorl Thunderhand, Dragon-Slayer

Lords:
King
Vitki

Heroes:
Jarl
Seer

Mounts:
Fenrir Wolf
Shieldbearer
Sleipner

Core Units:
Thralls (slaves, maybe)
Bondsmen (HW&S, LA, spears, bows)
Marauders (GW, LA, shield)
Reavers (HW&S; LA; throwing axes; add. HW)
Whalers (Skirmish, Javelins)
Falconeers (swarm)
Giant Wolves (fast cavalry)

Special Units:
Einherjars (regeneration (6+), unbreakable)
Ulfwerenar (Hatred, Skirmishers, Regeneration, Fear)
Huscarls (HA, shield, stubborn)
Berserkers (blood crazed (super-frenzy), skirmishers)
Norse Dwarfs (HA, shields, crossbows)
Shieldmaidens (spears, LA, shield)

Rare Units:
Valkyries (fly, fear, ItP)
Frost Giants (large target, terror)
War Mammoth (large target, terror)
Ice Drake (large target, terror)

And if Solaris and Vaz are reading this: your War Mammoth and Ice Drake will be included here instead of Kislev Smile
Go Vikings! Great idea, do it dude!!!
Ofc Vikings are cool, I'm related to them Tongue

The whole book will have a gritty, fantasy Viking feel to it, none of that "Vikings didn't have horns" stuff. Archetypes for the win! If you like werewolves, undead warriors from Valhalla and large monsters, Norse will definitely be something for you! Smile
Hehe Good luck with the project. I am currently working on 8th edition Norse, but I'm looking forward seeing your version Smile
Good luck to you too Smile

I am planning on using a small part of your fluff if that's okay, most will be from tome of corruption and the citadel journal list, as well as kalevalahammer and other sources (which coincidentally, are probably the same sources as you have Tongue)

Ofc there will be quite few differences, my list won't include any cavalry (will also skip the thralls and falcons), but will instead be more focused on infantry and monsters.

But there will be quite a few similarities too ofc, I really like how you handled some of the units, so I wouldn't change that. You will ofc be credited for source material and inspiration Smile
Yes, by all means take and use whatever you want! Thats what this hobby is all about Smile

By looking at your units and choices, the Northern Norse Tribes comes to mind and not like my list, which is based on the Southern Tribes. It would be kinda fun combining our lists, making a huge solid Norse armybook that included both lists Smile
Can't say I would mind that, southern tribes and northern tribes works for me (seeing as I am from Northern Sweden anyway Tongue).

We can go through that as soon as I finish my version, shouldn't take to long Smile
Hehe can't wait
Can give a small update; finished with most of the bestiary except for the special characters (will do that tomorrow). Found some good hunter fluff as well (thought the idea of Viking scouts in the forest seemed a bit... un-Vikingy Tongue), so I found a good reason for including them. Also weighing on whether or not to include snow trolls, which would push the rares up to 5... stupid Norse mythology with so many options Tongue

YOU...Have to have Snow Trolls...what is cooler than a frosty troll? WHAT???

No seriously, I would rather take Trolls in a Nordic Mythology list than Werwolfs!
Fine, I'll put them in for now, see what the rest of the critics say Tongue

While Snow Trolls fit Warhamme-Norse well enough, they are lacking in Norse Mythology - atleast to my knowledge. Trolls in Norse mythology is the same as Warhammer Giants, so to speak. That being said, Snow Trolls is a cool option for Norse even though I wouldn't personally include them Smile
Just that these Nordic Trolls tend to have more heads. Yep, two, three... more.
If memory serves aren't there some really old WD rules for Ice Trolls somewhere?

Loving this project idea, btw!
That would be the rules I'm basing the Snow Trolls on, from Citadel Journal 6 Wink
Ahh... Yet another insanely brilliant army list with some basing in old, largely forgotten, GW Journal rules to make it a fan amongst veterans and fresh recruits alike then. Yet another week as normal on the forum I see.
Woo-hoo, Mr Stampy has a list to call home!

I'm a-lookin' forward to this one, too. Pity GW couldn't get you to do the main army books, eh?
Well, if I had completely free reigns it might end up almost as bad sometimes, I am prone to miss things that be abused that's why I need feedback Wink

The list has been progressing a little slow lately I'm afraid, somewhat fallen addictive to computer games again Tongue Rest assured, It should be done before the end of summer, probably sometime in July.
Looking forward to it M4c, looking forward to it... Big Grin!
Just a quick update so you now this is still going Wink

- Finished with bestiary apart from Sleipner, and Keorl is in desperate need of some fluff...
- Finished with army list
- Sorted out all the fluff

Left to do is the magic items, layout for the background section and the reference sheet. So all going according to plan, it should be finished sometime in July, depends on how long it takes for me to finish Cryostasis and the Witcher Tongue
Another quick update:

- Background section finished
- Bestiary apart from Skald (yeah, decided to add him to fill out the hero section) and Keorl is finished
- The Witcher finished Tongue

The only thing left now is pretty much sorting out the magic items and finish that section. Book is currently up to 84 pages, expect it to land round 90. I expect version 1.0 to be done sometime this weekend or early next week, updated to 8th ed and ready to go Smile
Sounds like its coming along nicely! can't wait to see the Ice Trolls!

(I hope the Witchers called Geralt... that'd be cool)
Have you read the books? Because that's the character you are playing in the game Wink
Really good RPG overall, although I don't think it would suit everyone.

OT: Still working on the Skald, but I am following the schedule.
I haven't played the game, but I've read the Last Wish and the Blood of the Elves; they were brilliant! Smile
One of the best fantasy series I've ever read! Hands down! Only Stan Nicholls' Orcs comes close.
Sorry it's not finished yet, I just haven't been able to push myself to do the last part of it yet (stupid highly additive yet awesome computer games...), but I am gonna try to finish it up tonight. May Amon Amarth help me!
