with the new rules and magic items, what are some interesting things you're doing with your leaders?
Dunno, I haven't got the new stuff already!

Still, if the characters rule has changed as some claim... well, I can see Belladonna or even Lupo on my tabletop again!
^ its not a claim, have quickly read through the book myself Big Grin

With my Ogres I am taking a Tyrant AND Slaughtermaster...ohhhhh yeah finally.

BSBs are now great as they let you reroll any leadership test in range I think, and stubborn units get to use your generals leadership, not their base if he is either in the unit and/or in range (not sure if its one or both).

562 points on lords if you play 2250 as standard, thats enough to get in a wizard lord plus a merc general (265 points base for both of them) with good equipment and magic items, I will likely go this route myself, some tasty magic items in there for us Big Grin
Yes, just like Empire, taking a General for the leadership and a Wizard Lord for magic covers all your bases and means you're not disadvantaged. Something like High Elves will still have to make that choice in smaller games.

Mercenary General
Ogre Blade (+2 strength)
Armour of destiny (heavy armour, 4+ ward)
Shield
Barded Warhorse 204 points

Wizard Lord
Level 4
Book of Ashur (+1 to cast and dispel) 280 points

484 points, so it can be used in 2000 points. You could lose the book and give the Lord a 4+ ward plus some cheap item if you wanted to.

Paymaster
Armour of shining steel (2+ armour save)
Great Weapon 104 points

You really don't need any other options now.
Freman already posted a few good options...
I'll get my paymaster the venturer's armour (Heavy Armour, 6+ Ward) and the Dawn Stone (Re-roll failed armour saves) and give him a lance, a barbed steed and a shield...
For 116 points, he gets alot more resilient, with his 2+ rerollable plus his 6+ ward...or you throw the enchanted shield in for a rerollable 1+ without a wardsave and give the paymaster a toughness potion, so he can get to t 7 for one turn!
Combined with a Mercenary general with Ogre Blade, Armour of Destiny and the seed of Rebirth (6+ Regeneration) I'll stick him to a nice 8 man unit of Voland's Venators.
They can hit hard, have a resistant paymaster, a fighting lord and another mounted hero in them and 2 ranks to fight with... Together with another attack unit like a few nice ironguts this should work out well! Big Grin

For my Ogres, I'll use the following: Tyrant with Giantbreaker name, Sword of Bloodbath and the other trickster's shard:
This cutie can dish out 8 attacks with strength 6 and ini 4 plus the enemy has to reroll successful saves!

Note: Items are translated from German, so they could be named different in English. =)

You can't combine regeneration and a ward save now, it's one or the other.
@ Morkash - That Ogre Tyrant sounds very scary Confused!
