Alright, I may be earning the eternal disdain of certain hobbit loving posters by doing this, but I need some help.
I need a few, or rather one really good, conversion ideas for a hot pot, sans-halflings.
I am not sold on including halflings in my army, and am just not going to spend the money on a hot pot, both for the above reason and because I do not like the model.
So, anyone have any ideas? Historical concepts? Potential models? Streams of accusations and vitriol regarding my speciest views on our tubby, diminutive allies?
Why not just a mini mortar? or use the empire mortar but with hotpot rules?
I'm already using converted empire cannons, and I don't really want to get to 'Empire light' with them. Plus, I feel the hot pot just works in a unique enough way to deserve something a little different.
The 'mini' part could work though. Maybe just a mini-catapult of some kind. But what would it fire?
I currently use a very old Citadel model as Hot Pot, the Leadbelcher:

Because I don't have the original crew, I use the crew from the old Stone Thrower, these nice guys:

They look more monkeylike than newer greenskins and together with the weird leadbelcher they looks alright.
Edit: One thing to say: The machinery itself is tiny, it could stand on a 40x40 mm base easily... but on the other hand that's very fitting for halflings.
Have you ever played Escape From Monkey Island, from the Monkeu Island series?
I'm converting mine to look like a gigantic slingshot. Firing Hot-Pots of flaming oil, though.

I have what I assume to be an old Dwarf Grudge Thrower (looks like a small catapult with wheels on the front). It's always been my plan to use it as a "counts as" Hot Pot by mdeling flames onto the machines payload, and saying that it launches flaming bundles.

Now that's an interesting idea indeed!! I might consider scratch-building one...
