Anybody ever look at these? Seem to be a great standin for the Lost Legion. Good looking and fairly cheap to boot; but I wonder the exact size comparison to the GW pikes. Hopefully the link works, I'm at work and can't verify it from my workstation.

I have a load of them, they are lovely figures, a bit simpler than Pirazzos and with no xbow option obviously.

They are 28mm, but are "true scale" an so look smaller and slimmer than GW "heroic scale" figures.

That said as long as you dont mix them in a unit they will look fine imo.
Yep, I'm using the Covenanters as Dogs of War pikemen. Right now they're sitting on my desk next to a unit of GW Empire Crossbowmen, and as long as you don't look really closely, from a foot away, they fit right in.

Great minis, by the way. Very slight mold lines, nice faces, and they paint up beautifully. Plus at least one cut-out flag that isn't immediately recognizable as historical.
So in general you approve of them. Have you actually put them next to a GW pikemen?
Nope, I don't own any of the GW Pikemen. The only GW minis I've compared them with are the Empire Free Company, a 6th Ed. Wood Elf Sorceress, and High Elf Spearmen.

I do have one major criticism, though, and I'm not sure if this is just a problem with the Scots or if it applies to the Royalist and Parliament boxes as well. The boxes come with 16 pikemen, 4 of those being a command group. Assuming all of those are used and go in the front rank (I'm using them as SB, Musician, Champion, and a Hero), that leaves one normal pikemen in the front, two full ranks of 5, and a guy in back. Now, the problem is that the pikemen come in three varieties: 3 have pikes lowered, 3 have pikes at port, and 6 are marching with pikes shouldered. I spent several hours trying to work out a decent arrangement for those numbers, and couldn't really come up with a satisfactory solution. So I've now got one lowered pike filling out Rank 1, and a mix of two lowered and 3 at port in Rank 2, which made for some very careful arrangement to ensure that the pikes fit between the command group.

I think in play I'll just fill the unit out with Bicorne or Warlord shouldered pikemen to make movement and close combat simpler, but it's a shame that they chose such an odd composition choice.

I should also add that the pikemen you linked to, the armoured variety, almost certainly compare more favorably to GW minis since they've got a bit more bulk to them than the unarmored Covenanters.
Yeah the figure mix is odd, but Warlord do some very nice metal pikemen too (at a steal compared to GW prices) that are great to fill in the rest of the unit too
Joe,

I traded my P&S Royalists off to Jeem a few months ago, they are pretty close in size to the Pirazzo's I was using as pikemen. Give him a shout, have him bring the box over to the store next tourney time so you can actually see the figs.
Whoa! Holy thread necromancy, Batman!

Not that I disapprove...
Yes indeed. I'm pretty sure he ended up selling his Dogs of War stuff, and I bought the WG armoured pike from him. They mix in well with my pirazzo's unit.
