Grats on 5 out 40!

List looks pretty good, but I think play skill came into play, too. Wink
You must be very skilled if you came 5 with the Marksmen, and Golgfag! It's quite a surprising list and one I doubt I would ever run. How do you find each unit runs with the army ?
This is a very shooty list that does not get into HtH very often. Only 2 combat troops that I have are Voland and Golgfag. Other then that very squishy.

I like the Marksmen. Always have -- I have gone back and forth with people about them or 20 normal xbows and run the statistics on them . Normal will hit more often and all. The problem is size -- and lines of sight. In a tournament how often will you have a hill on your side of the table? In 5 games I had a hill in 3 games. 2 of them had forests in the way to block large swaths of the battle field for lines of sight.
With Marksmen I only need to be able to see for 10 men -- not the 20 otherwise.
Infantry will get in the way of larger selections of missle troops. Especially if you field lots of skirmishers as I do.
So from a pure numbers point they do not kill as many as normal troops in an open field -- but put in troops, terrain and the normal flow of battle and they more then make up their points.

Golgfag scares people -- which is half the fun of him. His Ogres will mess up most normal troops, and average cav. People focus on him. Which keeps them from focusing on the rest of my army -- I can live with that.

The 2 units that draw the most question are:

Mengals -- very expensive and squishy. I like them but you have to be very carefull how you use them. 363 points for 10 models is a lot of eggs in your basket. But used well they scare many people.

The Fighting Cocks -- halflings with bows. Leadership 9. BS fo 5 or 4.
Whats more to say --these guys are awesome. Drop a wizard or 2 in here to protect from shooting and magic attacks. Need to do 5 wounds to cause a panic. They are extremely effective.

I agree! Pompey the Great outnumbered Julius Caesar at Pharsalus, but we all read how that turned out!

I think you proved your great skill as a general, tarastop! I'm glad you are on our side!

Congratulations!
