Dogs of War

As we all know, buying models strictly from GW is really expensive, and for a Dogs of War army, not necessarily the best. Unless you want to cough up lots of dough on buying the very limited RoR to use as regular mercenary troops, I recommend looking through these links. Feel free to add any more companies you can think of to the list.

http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/ - smaller scale than GW, but shouldn't be much of a problem. Models sold in packs of 30 for infantry and 10 for cavalry, great for army building. Range is huge, you can make Tilean armies, Norse armies, Landsknechts, Kislev, Pirates, Araby, Cathay, Nippon, you name it. Price level is about 3 times as cheap as GW!

Nice list. I'd add Wargames Factory (http://www.wargamesfactory.com) for their upcoming Viking set (useful for Norse) and Warlord Games (http://www.warlordgames.co.uk), especially the Pike & Shotte ECW range. Renegade Miniatures (http://www.renegademiniatures.com) also carries a limited ECW range including some nice Pikemen, as does Bicorne Miniatures (http://www.bicorne.net). Wargames Factory and Warlord Games come out a bit cheaper than GW, I think. Renegade is slightly more expensive (but at this point it's still hard to scoff at $30 for 16 metal Pikemen, even if they don't come with weapons). Bicorne will depend, I think. Online they're about equivalent with Renegade, but in my LFGS they either have old prices or did a 1-1 dollars to pounds, because a pack of 8 is less than $10.

Sculpts vary from good to cr*p! But, the fantasy figs are OK, and the landsknechts, border reivers and WotR ranges are useful. One or two of the Treasure Island pirates could be used as duellists. Their new Crusade range will also be useful. These figures are cheap!

Yes, that's right - in the plastics range.

2 or 3 packs of these, and a bit of converting, and you could have a playable force for the price of one 'Boyz' box!

The same for the dwarfs.

They are one piece mouldings, and not very pretty/detailed, but can be used as a cheap and quick way of building up an army.

They have a short article linked to the catalogue entries showing how it can be done. Obviously, you will need to source some things elsewhere - boars etc - and the shields will need to be bought seperately, but you will see that they sell 50 for £1!

These figures are not as big as GW's and are not made from the same plastic as GW, so need superglue rather than the usual plastic glue, which means you have to be a little more careful dealing with them, but for the cost saving, so long as you are not going to play at a GW venue, it's unbeatable!

Not any in plastic as far as I know, but there are several companies that make them in metal cheaper than GW plastics. Check the links in your thread for specifics.

hey guys, ive found a company that makes PLASTIC ARABS, they come with 96 for £6.99. they are made out of diffirent plastic, so gw paints might not work. im going to buy a box, then i can post a pic for scale, etc...

Yup, those are 1/72 scale, while warhammer is in 1/56 scale. They will look really, really tiny next to GW heroic scale models. I have a few hundred model in that scale, won't work with GW at all I'm afraid.

Ebay doesn't have much in the line of Arab miniatures in 28 mm scale, I'm afraid. Also, IIRC correctly, he wasn't allowed to buy online.

How fast does Scibor miniatures ship? Can't find it on their page...

Only things I have heard about Sciobor is they can be very slow to ship and unresponsive to emails, but thats only from the one person I know went direct.

Try Maelstrom games for them though.

So the word on Warseer is that the latest Perry WotR plastic box will be out very, very soon. 18 pikemen and 12 crossbowmen for (assuming it's the same as the other box) 15 GBP/25 USD. I think I could probably find a way to fit 1 or 2 or 20 boxes into my army.

How very, very soon? Seriously, plastic pikemen to replace or complement the ones I'm using now? Pure gold.
