I'm always on the lookout for toys to convert to pirate ships or terrain. The other day I found this item.
I thought it would be cool to have a giant octopus for my games of Ahoy!. I cut off all the limbs and based them individually, and put the head on a larger central base.
I used some green stuff to lend a little stability to the bottom of each arm. Then I added some rippling water to the bases with contour putty.
Finally, I added the scared running guy from the giant kit.
As soon as I get some paint on it, I'll post an update.
very cool idea, i did a similar thing as i found a sea dragon toy to my liking and made it for my DE; heres the pic:

Cool idea, reminds me of the watcher in the water from LotR. Too bad the squid looks a bit plastic, I would greenstuff him to look a bit more like the Kraken, you know, not so smooth.
THat squid looks so cool. I might be getting one of my own and start thinking about my zombie pirates again ...

Looking plastic for a squid isnt that much of a problem, since yer actual squids also look plastic lol
True, I was just thinking of "warhammerizing" it a bit.
what, giving it an enormous, oversized comedy axe and charging £50 for it?
Exactly, now that would be awesome

That's a very cool dragon. Where's it from?
Very cool! And much cheaper then any kraken that GW will ever make!

its a toy sea dragon from Safari toys, heres a link:
http://www.shopatron.com/products/produc...33576.0.0?
i just carve away the toy trade mark at one side of the tail, primed it, and repainted it; i originally thought it was a good size for warhammer(act as a hydra), but once i got it, its a lil big, but still good enough for a campaign monster; there is a rule for a spiny sea dragon in the water section of the general compenium i seek to use as.
That freaking cool Sharkbelly!! best idea ever
Finally got it painted:

Nice! It doesn't look as plastic know, which is great. More... rubbery

That is one awesome octopus - probably the best I've seen. Great job man!
