Hello fellow dogs of war generals!

I´m right now planing to perhaps do a dog of war army and will as propably many others, base them on Empire models (mostly because they are cheap and look good). My thought is how to do pikemen as I really want them in my army?

I´m guesing that useing statetroops with spears is the way to go but how do I make them look more like pikemen and not spearmen? Anyone that can help me?

I then cut off the upper portion of the spear, leaving just the part being held I their hands. Using 2mm plastic rod, I then made a much longer spear, about the same length as a lance, and attached it. Once painted, it looks fine.
Yeah, that's pretty much the way to go. Or take off the spear completely, drill holes in the hands and use brass rod.

The only problem with the new state troops is, they all wield Spears/Pikes at a low angle. So it'll likely cause trouble when ranking up unless you do some conversion
Good to know, good to know about the statetroopers. I didn´t knew that.
You can also use the extra lance arms in cavalry sets to make really unique, heavily armored pikemen. Of course, you also need lots of heavy calvary to start with.
I have just posted a tutorial on making pikemen from state troops.
