Got a game in using a Skrag list. It was a 3K-point game per side and I played against a Vampire Counts army. I don’t what exactly my opponent had, but I will address that with what I remember. My list:

Skrag
Tyrant – 2 HW, Wallcrusher, Bullgut, Wyrdstone Neckalce, Demonkiller Scars
Hunter – 2 sabertusks, Longstrider, Sword of Might
Butcher – Scroll caddy
2x 3 Bulls - L Amor, Ironfist
4 Ironguts – FC
2x 8 Trappers
4 Gorgers
2 Scrappies
5 Leadbelchers
4 Maneaters – H Armor, Cathayan Longsword

His list:
5 Vampires (yes 5 freaking vamps!)
Couple units of Skellies and Zombies
1 Corpse Cart
5 Dire Wolves
20 Grave Guard
10 Black Knights
5 Wraiths and a Banshee
2 Varghulfs

Terrain & Deployment:
The terrain ended up favoring him. On the left hand side of the table was a large inn and three houses around it. Over on the right side was a copse of woods. I set up my line pretty even across the board. In the center I placed the scrappeis, and LBs. On the right flank was Skrag, the Tyrant with the maneaters and the Hunter with the kitties. On the left flank I had the two units of bulls and the Butcher with the ironguts. He had loaded up his left flank and kind of forced me into a bottleneck type of situation. The bulls did well though.

The game: (I am not a very good battle report writer so I will just go over the highlights and let the pictures talk for themselves).

I got the first turn and moved the far bulls, one scrappie, and Skrag forward. My trappers bickered this round so they didn’t move. My magic was not very effective, but there were no real valid targets. The scraplaunchers were pretty ineffective the first round. He moved everything forward, and bulked up his units with zombies and skellies. Man, VC can really fill seemingly small units up very fast!

Round two saw some charges. His dire wolves drew one scrappie into combat. The trappers could not resist getting into the action either, so they charged and Skrag got in the game by charging zombies; I figured an easy way to boost up his model count. The wolves were wiped out and Skrag started his slaughter. He got caught up though so I tried to give him some support so he can go and kill something with more VPs. He brought more stuff forward, including the unit of wraiths, I did not have much to deal with them, but luckily a bonecruncher spell killed three of them. The gorgers arrive and give some help to the bulls on the left flank.

He had moved the Black Knights into a position where I could charge them with the Maneaters. Wow! Bullgut and Wallcrusher is a pretty effective combo. I killed half the unit on the charge alone. Combat saw the rest of the unit destroyed. This was pretty much it for my Tyrant, and leadelchers for that matter. I got some VPs for the BK and I secured table quarters with those two units, but I would have preferred to get them into combat.

The real game now took place over on the other side of the table. In the middle, the banshee’s unit (with a Vamp) destroyed my two scraplaunchers, but in doing so it took them out of the rest of the game, so I was ok with that.

My bulls charged the units of zombies and skellies. I was not able to destroy them in the first turn, so I got bogged down in combat. Eventually I was able to kill one unit of Zombies, but the Grave Guard were able to get a flank charge on one unit of bulls. They lasted longer then I though. The gorgers came in on the VC left flank and got into a brutal fight with another unit of skellies, led by a Vamp, and the Varghulfs. If it wasn’t for their stupid regeneration, I would have killed those big ugly vamps.

I wore down the unit and won. Skrag was able to bonecrunch one Vampire to death and the surviving unit of bulls charged and destroyed the corpse cart. It did set up a rear charge though for the Grave Guard.

When the Grave Guard finally broke the unit of bulls, they overran into Skrag; Skrag had just finished off one of the varghulfs. Skrag killed only three and lost the combat, but I made my leadership roll.

My ironguts charged the general’s unit, which I killed, but the general survived.

Post-game Thoughts:
After the points were tallied it was a minor victory for Skrag. I was happy with how he performed, but he definitely needs a unit to support him, otherwise it is 400 free VPs. I was real impressed with the Tyrant in the Maneaters. I just wished I could have gotten more out of them, but that was my deployment error.
It sounded like a massacre when I read it first, but I guess a minor victory is fine too (a winn is a winn no matter how you do itCool )

I like the pics and the fact that it's short makes it easy to read too.
Hope you winn again (and betterWink) next time.
