This is a list I am planning to run in a low-key tourney in a couple weeks. Any feedback is welcome and much appreciated.
Lord
Mercenary General w/brace o' pistols, heavy armor, shield, morning star 121pts
Heroes
Paymaster w/brace o' pistols, heavy armor, Enchanted Shield, Biting Blade 89pts
Lvl.2 Hireling Wizard w/staff of sorcery 145pts (Lore of Heavens)
Lvl.2 Hireling Wizard w/2 dispel scrolls 145pts (Lore of Beasts)
Core
24 Pikemen w/full command & heavy armor (general goes here) 294pts
25 Pikemen w/full command & heavy armor 305pts
10 Crossbows (wizard with staff goes here) 80pts
8 Duelists w/pistols 72pts
5 Heavy Cavalry w/barding & full command 150pts
Special
19 Dwarfs w/full command, heavy armor, shields (paymaster goes here) 201pts
19 Norse Marauders w/full command, shields, flails (Lore of Beasts goes here) 201pts
10 Halflings 60pts
Rare
Cannon 85pts
Hot Pot 50pts
Total: 1999pts
They paymaster only has a biting blade because I had points left over for it. Also, no special characters and that is why there are no Regiments of Renown allowed. Also why there is no Truthsayer, couldn't convince them that it was not a special character because it wasn't named (
).
Basic battle plan: put the crossbowmen (with the Wizard with lore of heavens supports/fires off lightning if he gets lucky) and cannon on a hill and provide fire support, along with the hot pot.
The pikemen line up on either side of the dwarf paymaster unit, with the duelists covering the flank of the side with 25 pikemen, and the duelists covering the other, forming my main battle line.
The halflings go forward as a decoy/march blocking unit which can maybe pick off so lone wizards or harass the flanks of units/war machine crews.
The Norse are a glass sword unit that will go forward (with the wizard casting bear's anger, maybe he gets it off, who knows and whatever other spell he gets), they either smash into the enemy and tie him up or absorb fire/march block for a few turns before the inevitably die horribly.
Any feedback welcome and appreciated!

or add another dimension to the army (Asarnil, Malakai Makaisson, Manflayers, etc). Pure Dogs of War can probably work, but you're also missing out on a few things.
