With the following changes to the core rules : 1 magic item from any warhammer book, no paymaster needed, italian dogs of war campaign magic items allowed. Only 8 PD and DD in army ( bound spell counts as one )

Heroes :

Truthsayer

lv1 wizard with staff of lightning and pike of remas

captain with ring of fury (HE, 2d6 S4 , bound lv 3 ) and enchanted shield, pistol and heavy armour

Core :
10 crossbowmen
10 crossbowmen
9 duellists with pistols
9 duellists with pistols
5 light cav

Spec :
3 Maneaters with BoH and HA

10 mengils including mengil

The idea is to join truthsayer and wizard with mengils, with pike of remas no cav can charge me and I can easily run away from most infantry and choose my battles. The truthsayer will be mosty casting +1 to hit for mengils as I want them to be on the move and pick easy targets in CC for +100VP . Wizard will either cast rerolls of 1s from heaven or small missile from any aproppirate lore.

Captain joins one unit of duellists and harass enemy flanks while second unit of duellists is a meat shield for ogres. Ogres and crossbowmen put out lots of punishement on enemy light troops and wait for cavalry to close up on them. Light cav fills in any gap that might appear

This is very defensive. I have never played like this before since I was lizardmen player but I'd like to give it a try. What do you think ? Point out the weak points please.
For those of up who don't know, what do the italian items do?
I'm guessing that your attempting something similar to a shade deathstar?
Yes this is supposed to be a death star. Pike of remas is a pike with +1S and enemy cavalry/monsters cannot volountarly charge the bearer or the unit he is with if they come in contact with the bearer ( so they can't charge skirmishers with this at all ). I was about to give them the HE item that gives 2+ ward from magic but I thought one more bound spell will be better overall.

Should I maybe swap one crosbowmen unit for halflings ? or lumpin crops ?

Lightning staff does D3+1 S6 hits and one S4 hit on a bearer, on a roll of 1 expires costs 25p ;D

These items can be found in new ab file from anarchistica http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/anarchistica/ they update old army builder 2.2 datafiles so you dont have to use the new and ugly ab.
Interesting list but I don't really see it doing too much. Your lack of static combat res will hurt you and you'll have to roll exceptionally well to kill off enough enemies to win combats. Your units are also all small enough so that a few casualties in each are enough to cause panic tests.
We have a very competetive environment in my club and units with static Cres are very rare sight. They are slow, hard to manouvere, expensive and still they will loose to any elite troops that cost less and have no static CR.

I really don't plan on taking too much casaulties as I'll be mostly avoiding enemy and fighting only on my own terms. In theory I could have included beorg's unit for maneaters, but maneaters are just so much better that I agree to have to screen them half o the game from enemy shooting.

Theres also one more thing - I don't have that many models yet Undecided so I can't really field any pike unit.
The shade deathstar has one major weakness which yours suffers from even worse . Once engaged in combat all the character are involved in that combat. So a multiple charge of say a unit of dryads to your front (declared first) will leave your flank open, even to cavalry! Without ASF the great weapons leave you vulnerable if you don't charge.
I would go for Beorg instead of the maneaters and take bears anger on the level 1 to support him.
Instead of the ring of fury how about the book from VC which contains van hel's danse macabare (sp.). I'm not sure if that would work though since i'm a few hundred miles away from my books!
I'm aware Mengils suck at combat if they don't charge. I have enough experience in warhammerr to be able to keep them safe though.

Unfortunately Dance Makabre works only on undead so I would have to take cursed company Smile

Why beorg ? His unit costs around 350p if I want it to be effective, and only Beorg has the capability to do something.

Ah i knew there'd be a catch with the book.

Beorg can do a lot! On his own he can almost equal two man eaters and thats before any magical help. Plus he's tougher. You'll be screening ogres with the duelists so the handguns will be partly wasted. The bearmen i admit are largely just a bit of extra help and protection.
