Hey all,

I played 2 games today, one 1250 game 1 on 1, and one 1250 doubles game. my opponents were both high elf players. My list was:

Paymaster: heavy armour, shield. 61
Hireling wizard: lv.2 95
hireling wizard 60

24 pikemen: heavy armour, full cmd. 294
10 crossbowmen 80 x2
8 duellists: pistols. 72 x2

10 fighting cocks 118
maneater: BOH, heavy armour. 90
4 ironguts: bellower, standard bearer. 222

My friend's was:

Noble on Great Eagle
lv.2 wizard
lv.1 wizard

20 spearmen
10 archers

14 white lions
5 fast cav

repeater bolt thrower

The first game I wiped my friend's army by turn 4. I got a lot of really luck shots, panicking his fast cav off the board 1st turn, sniping his noble with crossbows...The ironguts don't do well against white lions i learned, they lost combat and got ran down. the maneater was great, 5 s5 attacks is really good against t3. my pikes did great, seeing off the remainder of the white lions and the unit of spearmen(with a little help from the maneaterTongue

The second game was a solid loss for me. my teamate had WoC, and brought:

2 lv.2s

12 warriors
20 marauders
5 marauder horsemen

5 chaos knights

The other HE player brought:

BSB

12 archers
24 spearmen

6 silver helms
18 white lions

Highlights of the game:
-killing the Noble and eagle with fiery blast.
-duellists taking the silver helms charge and running them down
-pikemen beating the full unit of 18 white lions(to a man/elf)
-Lumpin croops and his lads taking a chrge from archers and killing them all, in sucessive combats.

Dark moments:
-ironguts getting flank charged by 18 white lions and getting run downSad
-paymaster dying and a full unit of duellists running off the table, as well as multiple other panics.
-spearmen crushing the marauders in 1 combat round and running them down.

They were both really fun games, and I am planning on playing more games with my amigo on monday, so we'll see how those games go.

Cheers

Peyton
Well done on the victory, commiserations on the loss.

While they weren't the nastiest high elf armies going, they are never an army that are going to be a walk over whatever they take.
I'd like to point out to you as well that your opponents had the advantage from the start in the second game since they took a combined list Wink

Nice to see evidence that pikemen can do well! Even against elite infantry.
I do have a question though, how in the old world did the cocks end up being close enough for the archers to charge them?Exclamation
They were in a wood next to a hill with archers and a bolt thrower on it, and after they killed the bolt thrower crew in one shooting round, the archers charged in. probably the better move, seeing as halflings "usually" suck at CC, but Lumpin showed them!Big Grin
You moved them all the way up from your deployment zone? Thats some seriously aggressive play! Cool
Nicely done against the pointy ears! Ironguts vs their elite infantry is never a good idea. Lumpin is a champ Smile

Did the HE Noble not have Dragon Armour??!!! silly silly boy if he didnt cause its only like 2 points more than Heavy Armour and it makes the guy and his mount immune to fire attacks (like that spell).
Horray for pikes, big ogres and small halflings: from the shores of Ulthuan to the cold wastets of chaos, they can beat everything! Well done.
Guys... this is a huge thread necromancy. Please take note of the last post in the topic before replying, because this thread is 6 months old.
Ohh lol woops, sorry about that, was just bored and working my way down the list, guess there was a bigger jump in time than I expected!!
