So hey, I've never played Beorg Bearstruck and his Bearmen, I'm a little confused as to his rules. I've heard tell that he gets angry and his stats shoot up, but, checking the PDF, nothing turns up. Is it an archaic 5th ed rule or is there something not written?

Could I get some clarification on that? Cheers.
There is nothing in his present rules that says "Don't make him mad. You wouldn't like him when he's mad". And nothing in his old rules either, so you must have been misinformed in that matter.
I think your refering to the common tactic of casting Bear's Anger on him, which does indeed increase his stats ;-)
Ha, I get you now. Thanks!
I actually include a Lore of Beasts Wizard in my army just to cast Bear's Anger with 3 dice on him whenever I field the Bearmen (which is pretty often. I have a soft spot for Norse and so I often take Beorg and at least one unit of Marauders). Beorg can then easily rip apart most other characters, kill a unit of Knights single-handedly, obliterate the first rank of an enemy unit or just beat the crap out of anybody who dares challenging him. T6, 4+ ward, S7 and 8 attacks that hit most stuff on 3+ or even 2+ on the first turn of combat see to that. The bearmen are pretty good even without Bear's Anger (Beorg is ridiculous for a character that doesn't use a slot), but this makes them a match winner as long as you can fend off enemy redirection units (I usually block Beorg's LOS with a couple of pistol duellists that can just shoot enemy fast cav).
@Bloodknight - those sound like standard Beorg tactics, but I'll second that Beorg is a total bad-ass in HtH, and the Beasts Wizard is totally integral to playing him. Wink
Has anyoe tried casting Potent of Far on The Bearmen?
No, but that is because it would mean fielding a Heavens mage, and I personally don't see a huge use for that lore in a Dogs of War army.
In 6th, Heavens was great, and you'd take it, Dogs of War or not.

In 7th, not so much.
Heavens best spells are the high cast value (Thunderbolt and Comet) and the Comet has been slightly nerfed from the glory days of 6th edition. I guess I been playing Chaos Dwarfs for too long that I really only mix and match Fire, Death, Metal, Shadow. Big Grin
My personal choices are Light, Death, Beasts (Beorg Wink) and Metal.

Well... Heavens isn't bad on a Level 1/2 caster, I certainly wouldn't take it on a level 4. You have to get past the fact that Comet aint that great. It has shock value, but that's about it.
On a level 2, you use Heavens as a utility lore for Portent of Far, Second Sign to an extent, and maybe throw around a few thunderbolts.
I personally think that Portent of Far aint a bad spell to have, a lot of people will ignore it and it's a bit of a boost to what ranged or combat unit you're casting it on.
My reasoning is this:

My Bearmen/Norse is my Paymaster's unit, and I keep this unit as a rear guard to protect my crossbowmen and artilary on the hills.

The level 1/2 Wizard can use Potent of far on the crossbowmen, and then combat is met use it on the Norse.

If I take a beast wizard, he is not very useful until combat is met.
I used Beorg and his boys today versus DE and boy did he do wonders! I managed to get the charge on his Black Guard who had the Banner of Murder (gives the unit AP) rather than the typical ASF banner. I had managed to cast Bear's Anger on him with IF earlier and he proceeded to rip the BG a new one! He killed six BG with his boys killing another two. They managed to hold thanks to being stubborn and the next two turns saw everyone dead except Beorg who then went and killed a unit of Dark Riders and was threatening a RBT when the game ended. He is awesome!
That doesn't surprise me at all. Beorg is among the absolute deadliest things in all the Warhammer World. When Angry, he's basically a Bloodthirster on a 20mm base... Glad you got to have him rampage!
Just without the flaming attacks, and the armour of make everything that could kill me in melee useless.
But yeah, Beorg 'The Incredible Hulk' Bearman, is a pretty mean alternative.
And less likely to have your opponent scream "cheese"
