Born the son of Elven traders, and having grown up in Tilea, Palindor was well accustomed to the traditions of the land. As a young elf he joined the Fighters Guild of Remas. He soon rose through the ranks of the Guild and became their best swordfighter. Upon the passing of the old Guildmaster, Palindor was given the position.
He eventually married Idril, an Elven Mage who worked as a healer in Remas. They had two children together, their firstborn was a son they named Lólindir who soon became a great, albeit somewhat reckless, warrior. Their second was a girl whom they named Inwë. More alike her mother than her father, Inwë showed signs of magic capabilities at a young age.
One day, as Idril was collecting herbs in the forest outside of Remas, she and her guards were ambushed by Goblins and killed. Palindor immediately felt her demise, as if something inside him had died. Guided by an unknown force, he traveled to the place of her death. When he saw her dead body, he became mad with rage. After her burial, he and his children, along with the Elven fighters of the Guild, left Remas to embark on the path of the Mercenary, hoping to one day get revenge for the death of Idril.
They called themselves “the Praetorians”, meaning to uphold order in the world and push back evil wherever it be found. As the regiment became more famous across the Old World more Elves begun to join its ranks, inspired by Palindor’s tragic fate. They are an elite unit on the battlefield, thinning down the enemy’s ranks before finishing them off with their glaives.

For Hire: Palindor’s Praetorians may be hired by The Empire, High Elves, Wood Elves and Lizardmen, and they count as a Rare choice. Dogs of War armies may choose Palindor’s Praetorians as a Special choice.

Points: Palindor, Lólindir, Inwë and seven Preatorians cost a total of 300 points including Standard Bearer and Musician. This is the minimum size of unit you can hire. The regiment may be enlarged by adding extra models at a cost of +11 points each.

Sword of Vengeance Magic Weapon
Palindor created this sword after his wife’s death. It is instilled with his bitter hatred for his enemies.

The wielder of the Sword of Vengeance gets +1 Strength and may re-roll failed rolls to wound.

The Bloodstone Talisman
The gem carried by Idril the day she was killed. It was retrieved by Palindor at the scene, covered in her blood. He now carries it in his belt, the stone protecting him against enemy attacks.

The Bloodstone confers a 5+ Ward save to the wearer.

Special Rules

Inwë was studying under her mother Idril, learning to become a Mage. She may cast the spell Gift of Life from the Lore of Life as a bound spell with a power level of 3.

Glaives
Models armed with glaives fight in two ranks, the front rank gets +1 Strength. Requires two hands.
This is how I made my unit of Preatorians. Only the command group is finished atm, but I will post pics of the finished unit later (will take quite a while though).

I see you are starting to put your Regiments of Renown back up.

This one is a cool unit.
Yup, only Curin left to go now (and this time I will be saving them in word format!). I did make some smaller changes to the unit, like giving Palindor a Ward save. A 5+ Armour save doesn't mean much when you have T3, which means you will likely lose a 120pt model in the first turn of combat. A ward save should hopefully keep him alive a bit longer. The unit is very expensive in its minimum unit size, but since Palindor can dish out quite a bit of damage, they should still be worth taking.

Oh, and thanks again for helping out with the beginning of the fluff Smile
Indeed, a very cool unit! I wish there was more multi-role units like it in the game. The only problem i have is the daughter wearing armour when she's a mage.
I'm becoming very jealous of your conversions for your RoR :-P
Thanks Smile For the armour part, there is actually nothing in the rules that prohibits a wizard from having armour, they just normally cannot buy it. Chaos sorcerers doesn't seem to have much of a problem casting while wearing chaos armour Wink
BRB Page 121 Reference Magic Armor.

"A character that is not allowed to wear ordinary armour cannot be given magic armour/helms (unless differently specified in army book). A character that is not allowed to carry ordinary shields cannot be given magical shields (unless differently specified in army book). This includes many kinds of Wizard whose natural magical harmony would be seriously affected by armour."

Now according to the 3 Elf army books (High, Dark, Wood) no Wizard character can wear ordinary armour.

To keep Inwë in line with Elves in Warhammer she should have to lose the armour or have her abilities affected by wearing armor (like -1 to cast).

The only armored Wizards I know of off the top of my head are the freaky Chaos Sorcerers. But I believe the fluff for that is their Armour (made for them by the Chaos Dwarfs) is bound with Chaos and it binds itself to the Sorcerer the first time they put it on.
Yes that is true, but Inwë isn't much of a wizard anyway. The -1 to cast is a good idea though, if not for the armour she is only an apprentice anyway. I'll add that to her rules.
I could have sworn there was a more specific rule, but the hobbit is correct!
Perhaps just add some more fluff to explain it.
Palindor, determined to give his daughter the protection of armour her mother never had, commisioned............ and so on Tongue
It may have been a rule in 6th edition, but Chaos always seemed to favored in the design studio.

And I can't see the Elves talking to the Chaos Dwarfs for armour.

Maybe the 4 Greater Daemons are now running game development, that would explain the Daemon Book. Big Grin

The reason to give her armour is more gamebased. Without a save, she would always be more profitable to attack than normal rnf. I originally wouldn't have made her a wizard, but I felt she should have something to make her on par with her brother, which is a better fighter. Had she been a full wizard, I wouldn't have given her armour.

You might could say she is more of a cleric or a priest (both which can wear armour), since she only heals friendly units, not conjuring up fireballs Wink
I still don't like armour on Magic Casters you could have made it that she can't be targeted until her brother has been killed. She's nimble and quick and her brother protects her.

I never doubted it! I was just stealing the idea of warrior wizard style armour from the Empire's Armour of Tarnus Angel

I do like Bilbo's idea but you could make the Gift of Life a bound spell to bring her in line with warrior priests, etc.
I originally did, just seemed a bit to good for an apprentice. But then again, she is actually more like priestess anyway, so she could go back to that, I suppose. I'll edit it in.

Bound spell would make her more like a warrior priest, but you could also give her, her mother's necklace or other item like meaglin armour idea. (aka mother spirit gaurding child) a bit cliche, but it might help.
