So, this is just to get started, I guess. I don't have a handle on how to put the list together anymore... the pirates have been on the back burner for a while. They still are, but I thought I'd get them organized at least.
The theme of the Pirates of the Sour See:
A prince of Luccini is disgraced when he becomes the target of a failed assassination on the docks of Luccini. On of his rivals paid a deckhand of his to accidentally drop a huge net full of sea food on him. He narrowly escaped having his head skewered by the swordfish, receiving a long scar across his left eye.
After that he goes into hiding and begins building his forces to reap revenge, cackling from the subterranean halls as he toils away. When he has completed his training and gathered a worthy gang with which to achieve his ends, he returns to the surface to make a laughing stock of his rivals before setting sail to the Sour Sea.
His cousin had contact with a rich mining operation on the Sour Sea, so he traveled Tilea to find a proper crew for their voyage. Our hero spent a fortune getting a band of dwarves drunk enough to sneak them past the ogres already on his ship.
At the end there, I've mentioned most of the unit types I'll be including... there is a halfling kitchen staff as well. Most of the crew is human, then there is a group of three ogre brothers and the band of dwarves (mostly slayer pirates, but there is one or two engineers with them. (I'm planning to mount a Goblin Hewer to the bow of the ship.
Anyone have a link they can throw my way for a "codex"?
Thanks for reading.
Ok, here's the beginning of a list:
Lord-
Merchant Prince
Heroes-
Mercenary Captain (Paymaster)
Hireling Wizard (Navigator)
Dwarf Weaponsmith
Core-
Duelists (Able seamen)
Crossbowmen (Deck hands)
Pikemen (Deck hands)
Flankers (Press gang)
Citizen Militia (Press gang)
Special-
Halfling Archers (Kitchen staff)
Maneaters (3 ogre brothers)
Paymasters Bodyguard
Mercenary Dwarfs (Cannon crew)
So, I don't have enough time right now to figure out the numbers. The human units and the dwarf mercenaries will be split between the mining operation and the ships crew. Either that or I'll have more than one unit of some of the human units.
Their main enemy, so trophies and such, will be the undead and skaven, with a minor enemy being the Cult of the Great Cave Squig (which is another army I'm working on).
If you have any tips on unit size, or which units work best together. Thanks.

So, Gregorius, the paymaster is an ogre that Christos met early on in his subterranean "faked death" hiding/training. I figure the Dogs of War armies are more forgiving of the rules, to some extant. So it's something that will be modeled but have to be discussed before a game. Gregorius' bodyguard will be a mix of his gnoblar and humans from Christos' early adventures. So that will be the same sort of thing.
Gregorius is also the paymaster only in the earlier stages of the "army", being a trusted member of Christos' crew. That being said, I will have to go back and mess with the characters. I'll wait to do that until I have a better grasp on the unit sizes, there by having a better grasp on the true size (points cost) of the army.
When the army gets bigger I want to have a Wizard Lord as the General. This is because I want the wizard to be a big customer, then an invested "silent partner" of Christos' mineral trade. Until then the wizard will be relegated to the ships navigator. He will also be sending his own paymaster to replace Gregorius.
I'm pretty sure I'll have to bump the unit sizes up, but I'm not sure which units would benefit from larger numbers most. Comments and Criticism wanted! Let me know what you think/have to say, please.
So, there's not a lot of action on this section of the forum... I figure that's the the redeveloping populous of this forum. Also, I imagine, there are fewer people who can comment on a list that is based on an army book that is still being perfected.
I was looking through the empire book again, to see why we really need a Dogs of War book, and it was quite clear. Besides all the non-human units, there are no duelists. There are swordsmen, but no option to make them gun fighters. While there are riflemen, of a sort, they are not hip-shooters, which is what I'm looking for.
So... meh.
I'm looking forward to starting on work on the models, but this army is not on the front burners at the moment. Though it could work it's way in, quite easily.
