Fellow Sellswords,

Who of our beloved named Special Characters do you like to use? Why and how?

I'm going to a last 2000 pts - 7th edition tournamente soon, and I do not believe I'll have enough time to test them all. I've already tested Borgio, and that's a tough one!

Still, the others look good enough to field... Ghazak Khan, Lupo and Belladonna got my eye as well.

So, who you'd pick for a tourney, if allowed?

Another thing, is Khan based on a normal cavalry base - 25x50 mm or a bigger one, 50x50 mm ???
Ghazak Khan is on a cavalry base.

None at 2000 points. They take up a valuable hero slot. Basically, your heroe's will look like...
Special Character
Paymaster
Hireling Wizard for magic D or magic O if you took Lucrezzia.

Come 8th edition, and it's a different story. But in 7th edition, they're basically not worth the time.
Yeah, I see your point.

Still, I can't miss this last opportunity. Would you suggest Lucrezzia?

I'd like to try Lupo. Yes, no Ward in him is bad, but... perhaps in a 30-men Pikes (say... Ricco's or perhaps Leopold's), + Paymaster + Banner of Battle... Thig it might work?

I'm planning on fielfing 2 or 3 large Pike-blocks. Yes, I'm aware of their 'inefectiveness', but I beated a VCs last week... and got mauled by a High Elf.

Any advice? People will be fielding Teclis, I fear!

is the "Banner of battle" the warbanner?

Ricco's, Leopold's and the paymaster cannot carry the warbanner. Only unit capable of carrying that banner is the bodyguard.

Lupo has his own qualities. Make sure you can use them and you will be fine. Cool
Well, actually Lorenzo Lupo gives a non-ROR unit the abilty to carry a magic banner of up to 50 pts - which while limited in 6th and 7th may be useful here in 8th.

But you still can't give the banner to a regt of renown - they have to be fielded "as is".

Of the group I'd probably go with Lupo.
Yeah, Lupo gives you the ability to give a magic banner to a non-RoR unit of Pikes or Heavy Cav. If you give it to Pikes, you should probably put him with them, for his added combat Res ability. If you put it with Heavy Cav, you can make a more effective breaker unit.
You are right.

Good idea in lending his 'Banner' to a Heavy Cavalry unit... even if it could'nt be Voland's.

I don't know about the Paymaster Bodyguards... fluffy, yeah, but somewhat sucky... Stubborn saved me some times, but what you guys think? I'm really considering Lupo after all...
I love Lupo, he's just neat, and has potential.

Borgio may do more to hold your army together, as his leadership are is extended to 18", I believe.

My money goes with Belledona, who I will be taking an awful lot in 8th. Her abilities can be insanely good. Auto rallying any fleeing units within 8", even in the enemies turn? Potentially having enemy heroes start with 1 wound? Giving someone Killing blow? Or a potentially MASSIVE stat boost, and STILL with a level 4 wizard with lore of shadow or death. Sounds good to me.
